This is a counting book that takes us on a journey. In this book Fatima and Galo, who are brother and sister, accompany their father to Bobo. They are excited for this journey because they get to see amazing things on their way to West Africa. The book integrates counting within the text, along with sights and sounds that the children see. At the end of the book, Fatima and Galo are given a very special treat.

VIBRANT. The illustrations in this book were absolutely stunning. I did some research on Christopher Corr, and it turns out that he lived in West Africa for a few years, and that really showed in these illustrations. He really captured the culture, and vibrancy of Bobo and the people/animals we come across in the book. Though this book may seem like it is for younger readers who are learning to count, it is actually great for older students too. It can introduce them to the different culture of West Africa. ( )
