Simple, but powerful message. Common sense that isn't so common. The first book of this type that recognizes that although change begins with "me", because we are interconnected, real change is only possible by working with others.
Time to stop complaining about email fatique. The Hamster Revolution, by Mike Song, Vicki Halsey, and Tim Burress, contains stress-reducing tips, and the ones I've started using this week are:
1. Creating a template: The most wonderful emails get to the point and end quickly. The template in the book can be tailored for personal use, and, already, I've used it several times.
2. Joining the AAAAA (The American Association Against Acronym Abuse): No matter how commonly known I think an acronym is, someone will eventually get confused. Now I spell them out.
3. Avoiding excessive punctuation: This is one of my big sins -- writing a sentence with too many exclamation points!!!!!!
4. Writing clear subject lines: Not only does a vague subject show more frustrate, it bores, and confuses.
5. Matching the subject lines to the content: From now on, I promise that when I hit the reply or forward button to start a new topic, I will also write a new subject line. Always. show less

De eerste stap om het aantal binnenkomende e-mails te verminderen is zelf minder versturen, want gemiddeld 1 op de 3 mails die je verstuurt levert een reactie op in je mailbox. Daarna gaat het om zelfcoaching en coaching van collega's om de kwaliteit van e-mails te verbeteren. Hoe doe je dat, en hoe zorg je ervoor dat de coaching van collega's geen gevoelige snaren raakt? Tenslotte: hoe houd je overzicht in je mailbox en maak je een mappenstructuur die werkt?

This book is perfect for new users who are dependent on email communications for their work. IT teaches them how to manage their emails properly. This is a great references for both technical personnel as well as ordinary users.
