A compilation of walkthroughs for about a dozen of Nintendo's NES first party games, mostly reprints from old Nintendo Power magazines. That's really what this is. And if you go in expecting that, you won't be terribly disappointed. However it sells itself as a retrospective, with interviews and commentary on the NES. One would hope that means a history of the NES, covering the highlights and shortcomings, the best games by all developers, not just first party, and an real overview of the console.

Instead it's a reprint of old Nintendo Power guides, with old blurry photos at times, and misprints preserved, and interviews from the time period. It's still quite pretty and makes a great coffee table book, but Nintendo missed a chance to make a really great book. ( )
