Not quite what I expected, but a very pleasant surprise: a collection of mostly Christian reports of ghosts and spirits returning from the dead. The editor is a renowned scholar of medieval history and his selections focus on his specialty. This is great, because he's unearthed some real gems. I'm looking forward to exploring some of the other books in this series that he's edited.
