Occasionally, I felt as if there was too much going on plot wise but it wasn't that much of a distraction. I was hoping for a bit more character development but overall, The Cutaway turned out to be an enjoyable read. *ARC provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I could have added 'mystery,' and police / law-enforcement as tags. #politics cannot help bleed through; the story is set in Washington D.C. The main focus is news and investigative journalism.
The main protagonist Virginia Knightly, is a gifted TV News producer. Virginia is a strong woman who has made her way to the top, and will never put 'the story,' on a back burner. She is ethical and tenacious.
Perhaps this is just my point of view, but the undercurrent of women's issues that are woven through the story speak the loudest to me.
The characters are realistic. The writing is excellent. Every word counts.

When I first saw the cover and title, I was thinking horror and homicide. There is homicide, intrigue and mystery. Suspense is #1. (
