Farm (DK Touch and Feel)

Touch and Feel Farm is a typical book in its format, bright pictures paired with different textures and minimal text. DK doesn't offer anything new in this arena, but what the publishers succeed so well at is offering superior quality in an established popular reading choice for children. The photographs are superb. In this book, the focus is farm animals, so we have pictures of pigs and horses and chicks. The textures are similar to others in the series, with fluffy fur and velvet and soft foam, but the adjectives are new, and appropriate to each animal. Touch and feel books are nice to have because young readers love them, and if you're searching for this type of book, DK is a great choice. This book is a great way for young ones to learn about different animals on the farm. Its has soft fluffy chicks, all the way to a scratchy pig's head that little fingers can feel and explore. This would be a great book for mommy and baby to explore together.

Touch and Feel Farm is a great way to introduce babies and toddlers to a basic understanding of farm animals. DK has done a masterful job in using large photographs and using items to replicate the feel of these specific farm animals. This is an excellent tool for babies and toddlers. Each young reader will get a chance to learn the name of each farm animal as well as the sound that animal makes. A great book to engage the growing senses of young babies and toddlers. Highly recommended.

This book I read to my daycare toddlers this week and they loved the animals in the book. They also enjoyed being able to touch the chick and how soft it was. Some of the younger ones have never seen these animals up close yet and enjoyed reading it. Some of even enjoyed sitting down and going through the book without me looking at the pictures and feeling and touching the things in the book and trying to say the animal names.

Excellent book for young children. They love the textures and the colorful pictures.
