The first book in the Wilderness Series I really did not like. The attitude that the main character Nate King took with the "greenhorns" seemed completely out of character. Early on in the story, I figured out why Libbie, the daughter of a "greenhorn" family heading to the "Promised Land", wanted to get away from her bible thumping "evil" father. Why Nate could not figure it out is beyond me.This is one story in the Wilderness Series I wish I had skipped, kinda tainted my character image of Nate King. ( )
