This author used to be a prosecutor in NY. She was a part of pushing for charges against The Central Park Five.
She still insists they are guilty after the city had to pay them $41 million dollars for malicious and wrongful prosecution.
This author is a nasty racist bitch and doesn't deserve to have a publishing contract.

Devlin Quick is the daughter of the Police Commissioner in NYC and because of her exposure to police investigations, Devlin is a young "detective". So when the foreign exchange student who is spending the summer with Devlin says that she saw a man cut out a page from a rare map book, Devlin decides that they are going to find the man and get the map back.

Devlin uses all her "connections" and knowledge of the city of NY to solve this mystery.

I loved it! A light-hearted mystery with a young detective reminding me of Nancy Drew! Linda Fairstein writes great adult mysteries that shine a light on NYC and now she has one for the youngsters, BRAVO! ( )

This book, written for the eight to twelve age bracket, is a fun read for adults, too. I enjoyed the tours of the New York Public Library and One Police Plaza, and I learned quite a bit about the rare map trade as well.

Although the characters in Into the Lion's Den all seem a bit too good to be true, I had to remind myself that I wasn't reading my usual fare. Devlin is smart and resourceful-- a born detective-- and her grandmother Louella "Lu" Atwell is my favorite adult.

This is a fun, fast-paced, intriguing read for children, and it makes a nice change of pace for adults, too. How about some quality reading time together? ( )
