Entertaining story of the dogs in Monty Don's life, expecially Nigel the golden retriever. The backdrop is the evolution of his house and garden in Herefordshire from ruin and rough ground to extensive sophisticated multi-faceted garden, featured in Gardeners' World. Never having watched the TV programme it would have been nice to have a plan of the various gardens or an aerial view to get a beter sense of the layout. Also before and after photos would have been interesting. ( )

By telling Nigel's story, and those of all the other dogs in his life, Monty explores the special place our furry friends occupy in our lives, and celebrates the deep love we have for them.… (more)
