Description
It started off as a battle of wits. Me: the ordinary girl with a big mouth against Him: the sexy bastard with a big...ego.I thought I'd hit the jackpot when I was upgraded to first class on my flight to London.
That is until HE sat next to me. Gabriel Scott: handsome as sin, cold as ice. Nothing and no one gets to him. Ever. He's a legend in his own right, the manager of the biggest rock band in the world, and an arrogant ass who looks down his nose at me.
I thought I'd give him hell for show more one, long flight. I didn't expect to like him. I didn't expect to want him. But the biggest surprise? He wants me too. Only in a way I didn't see coming.
If I accept his proposal, I leave myself open to falling for the one man I can't manage. But I'm tempted to say yes. Because the real man beneath those perfect suits and that cool façade just might be the best thing that's ever happened to me. And I just might be the only one who can melt the ice around his heart.
Let the battle begin...

Good lord this series: I just can’t—it’s so good. My stars are pretty high in that I love a lot of books and am rampant with the fives. But this book is hella over five stars it’s so amazing (extra stars are given just for putting the Angel and Spike debate to rest). Sophie and Gabriel might be one of my all time fave couples, and I will be coming back to them many more times.
Like the main characters, Gabriel Scott, and Sophie Darling, there was a smile not far from my lips during this not-put-downable read.
Perfectly entertaining. It will be one of my favourites for the year.
The dialogue between all the characters is so delicious, but in particular between Scotty and Sophie. The verbal sparring starts on the plane - I love it when a book gets off to a rollicky start!
I concur with Audible that it has produced Managed as it's meant to be heard, narrated by Rupert Channing, Charlotte North - they both do a great job of bringing this novel to life and maximising its entertainment value.
This book is already 6 years old - going by the Audible publication date of 2016. Isn't it surprising how long it takes for show more something to come to one's attention. As usual, I found this on a list of best close proximity romance reads. show less

4.5 stars
This book had some of the best banter between lead characters that I've read. I found myself smiling through much of the book. It was kind of a take on the grumpy boss and a sunshine happy girl but different. The secondary characters and their banter was delightful too.
I hadn't read the first book of this series about Killian but will do that. I know there is a third book with Jax and I hope the other characters are still in the works.
Great building of anticipation and chemistry. This was a slow build in regard to how long in the book it was before steamy times happened but once it did it was hot.

Scottie, manager of the hot rock band Kill John, meets Sophie on a plane to London. He’s a bad flyer, and she helps him with some comfort. Little do either of them now, she’s going to interview for a job with the band. Sophie knows a completely different side to Scottie than the rest of the band. The Scottie they all know would not have become so attracted to a woman like Sophie. But Scotty needs Sophie, and they begin an … unconventional sort of partnership. That partnership, of course, turns into love. But ghosts from both of their past threatens their happiness.
We meet Scottie in the first book of the series and he’s a very exacting and uptight sort of guy. Sophie is the complete opposite. She’s talkative and friendly and show more open. And he can’t resist her. That you come up with an arrangement that leaves them in close proximity for most of the time. And as much as they both try to keep it to friendship only, feelings pop up and they can’t resist each other anymore. This was a sweet sort of slow burn. Not really a slow burn because it’s clear from the beginning how they felt about each other. But they were slow to act on it. It was a fun, cute story with a little angst towards the end. But it didn’t last long and we get to see these two get their happily ever after. Lots of laughs in this fun book. show less

Team Scottie
I loved this book so much. Scottie aka Gabriel is the man that pretty much runs the show behind the band Kill John. Sophie and Gabriel meet in an usual place an airplane while he is having a mild panic attack and she has to cuddle him to help him calm down. At first he can’t stand her she talks to much and she is the reason horrible pictures of one of the members of the band was released. She thinks he’s stuck up and pretentious yet they can’t fight their attraction and he can’t sleep without her sharing the same bed. This is so far my favorite of the series but I can’t wait to read Jax’s story.

original review 06/2022:
SLOWWWW BURN but worth the wait. I love Sophie and Gabriel! The first few chapters on the plane were excellent.
10/18/2022 Not a re-read just a quick return to my favorite parts:
Upgrading to 5 stars with caveat - Although I loved this book, and I REALLY do, Gabriel's weird fighting thing was a bonkers addition that didn't work for me. I feel like each book in this series has one of these bonkers side stories? . BUT, I will always love this book for the perfect beginning chapters on the plane - that banter between Gabriel and Sophie is just delicious, Gabriel just falling hard for Sophie lights me up. He is so controlled prior to meeting Sophie that seeing him loose control is beyond enjoyable.
01/2024 read: show more still one of my favorite slow burns. show less
