Very enjoyable, lovely writing, reminiscences on matters various from many corners of life. ( )

But Abyssinian cats, dining in restaurants, the public versus the private American character, the real joys of nontouristic travel, the pain of bad reviews and the evanescence of fame are all topics that make gripping reading, quite independently of the confusing sexual viewpoint of their author.
