Description
When the town of Cottonwood, Kansas, passed a curfew and a ban on the wearing of firearms in hopes of averting the violence that always accompanied the annual spring arrival of trail-weary cowboys, Marshal Morgan Gaunt knew he would have a hard time upholding the new law--and knew also that in one of the crews there would be a man who had sworn to return to Cottonwood to kill him.Tags

Lewis Byford Patten was a prolific author of American Western novels, born in Denver, Colorado in 1915. He often published under the names Lewis Ford, Len Leighton and Joseph Wayne. He used the last two names when writing in collaboration with Wayne D. Overholser. He died on May 22, 1981.
