This story takes place in Australia, and features and Aboriginal community. Stephen says that it's going to rain. We see the lingering clouds, but no rain comes. The children have to endure the hot heat for many days. Finally, a big storm comes and quenches everyone's thirst.
I really liked how the hot heat and hope of rain really parallels southern Arizona where I live. I can really relate to waiting for a big storm and enduring many painfully hot days. The illustrations have the Aboriginal style, and are vibrant and inviting to look at. I would love to read this to kids during the summer monsoon season.

This is a very beautiful, colorful picture book that takes place in a remote Aboriginal community in Australia. In the book, a man named Stephen says that a "big rain coming" but several days pass before it actually does. In thos several days, we watch as both people and animals in the community deal with the heat. I really enjoyed this book and feel that it would be good for either a geography lesson or a lesson about weather.
Beautiful pictures in this book! Very colorful! I would use it for Kindergarten and 1st grade. It would be a good story to read about when learning about weather. It tells a story about rain coming.
This book is about the rain that does not seem to be coming. They are anticipating rain, and they even see big, thick, dark clouds, but still no rain. In the end, the rain finally comes.
