Description
The climactic final volume of The Venom Trilogy by USA Today bestselling author Shannon Mayer. Humble baker turned supernatural Alena Budrene is lovely and lethal, and for the first time, she's owning it. Finally rid of her low-life ex-husband, she's free to date sexy vampire mob boss Remo, who respects her as both a Supe and a woman. She's on good terms with her difficult mother, and she's growing comfortable with her powers. But just when it seems things are falling into place for Alena, show more Hera strikes again: the Aegrus virus rages across Seattle, threatening the life of everyone in its path--including Remo, infected by Hades. The only way to stop the carnage is to face Hera and her army in a no-prisoners battle to determine the fate of the human race--and Alena's future. In a sweeping voyage from the Seattle bar scene to a netherworld populated by murderous gods and monsters, Alena confronts one adversary after another on a quest to set the world right for both humans and Supes and demonstrate her power--to the gods and to herself--once and for all. show lessTags

I think the reason I enjoyed the Venom Trilogy so much is the reason the author gave for writing it: "This one is for all the women out there who thought they weren’t strong enough. For the women who found their spines and stood up for themselves and realized, in doing so, they had far more worth than they could have ever imagined. For the women who broke free of tradition in order to give their children wings."
Alena has found her strength within her own humanity, beyond her super persona. She cares about people and that shines through. Not only is Alena a character I like, there is a good story that had me flipping the ebook's pages.
You will need to read the first two books to understand this one. At least now you won't have to wait show more impatiently for the ending of the story. show less

More like a 4 1/2 star
The reason for less than a 5 star is really the length. I know there was a build up to the grand event that wraps everything up but I felt as if it just kept dragging on. That said there certainly was an event with many, many Gods and a happy ending with a hint of a spin off series suspected. Great characters and a fun urban fantasy trilogy! Shannon Mayer rocks again! 🙂💜

Hisses and Honey (The Venom Trilogy #3) by Shannon Mayer is the last book in the series and I hate to see it end! This has been a fun ride! In this book she finally gets her divorce but she also has to do so much more too! She also discovers major family surprises. You meet more creatures, gods, and see more battles. Will miss this!! The narration was perfect as with the other two audible books!

I had forgotten I had signed up to get the review copy of this book, I would have removed myself from the Giveaway if I had remembered. I still have not read the first book, and I wasn't a fan of the second. This one redeemed itself a bit. It was much more interesting than the second. The characters were more fleshed out and the writing seemed to flow better. However, calling the group with the "mutant" powers Super Dupers still annoyed me. I still believe the author could have come up with a better name for the group. I still need to read the first book in the trilogy to get more of the backstory, but this one wasn't that bad.

I won this in a GOODREAD givaway... A good ending for a good series based on mythos.
