This series, unlike Smith's others, seems to get weaker as it goes. I lost interest, and it seemed to some extent as if the author did also, with everything becoming brisker and feeling very nearly rushed, and certainly not as polished as earlier books. If you're looking for engaging characters and plot, I'd stick to Smith's earlier series. Here, the book just needed a bit more in respect to time, character, and detail.
"The Kill" was an excellent end to this fascinating trilogy. With a lasting question posed at the end and a perhaps a change of heart amongst the view of the characters. The challenge enters the shadow world, where Julian has much less control. after another set of tasks the final stage of love is shown.
