Description

Book 3 of 3: And so continues the saga of the Clan invasion and the explosive struggle within the Inner Sphere. With secrete aid from ComStar-the Terran-based sect that serves as the keeper of the Inner Sphere's technological secrets-the Clans' BattleMech warriors have been incredibly successful in their campaign of invasion. But ComStar has its own reasons for giving aid to the enemy, and if its strategy proves successful, the Inner Sphere worlds will finally be reunited under ComStar's rule.

Imagine the fate of the human race is going to be decided by a single climactic battle upon which the hopes of the galaxy is hanging. Now imagine that while this is going on there’s subplot upon subplot to follow instead of the decisive final conflict.
This is the final chapter of an important trilogy in the Battletech saga. Stackpole, as always, keeps you interested in each of the 'sub-plots' involving different characters. Some of the events were more interesting than others. The only reason I didn't give this a full 5 stars, though, was that I felt some major characters were dealt with almost cavalierly by Stackpole in this book. If you've read the earlier books, you've become attached to some characters and there are some big things that happen here quite suddenly, but the story simply moves on. I would've liked to read more about the impact that these events had on other characters.

Not what I expected. It covers a lot of ground but leaves a lot of Tukkayid unexplored. Interesting regardless as it sets the stage for everything that's going to happen up to 3067.
