Was there a plot? I don't know.

Was there a point? I don't know.

Was there a purpose in writing this graphic novel? Beyond money or 'why the Hell not', I don't think so.

Decent artwork though. ( )

I loved the beginning. I want SO MUCH MORE of the worlds Boetema travels to. Afar really needs to be a series to truly explore everything introduced here: the worlds, the family relationship, the whole thing with Abrinet and Gorges, etc. The conclusion felt shoehorned at the end because they needed to wrap it up within one volume. But it's definitely worth a read. ( )

I NEED a sequel to this. It was so good! As soon as I saw the cover of this, I knew I had to read this. It looked AMAZING.

This was incredibly intriguing. Boetema and her family live in a post-industrial world; her father is a conartist and after being found out, they are forced to move to the city. Her parents leave Boetema and her brother, Inotu, behind in order to go find work. Inotu gets into trouble and they have to flee the city. Oh, and Boetema visits other planets via astral projection when she sleeps.

First, the art. The art was fantastic. Everything was gorgeous and I loved seeing the different worlds that Boetema visits. The worldbuilding was super interesting and I wanted to learn so much more about this Boetema's world and the other worlds she visits, and her powers. I wanted to see if she and Inotu get reunited with their parents. I wanted MORE. I really hope there's a sequel coming.

Years ago Owlcrate sent out a sample of this book and I have been wanting to read it ever sense. The illustrations and coloring are gorgeous. The story is interesting, but is very hard to follow. Everything comes together in the end, however the story is constantly jumping from one point to another. The feels entirely too short. It’s a one off, not a series, and I think it would have done better as a series. Somethings are so drawn out the are not easy to understand, and others so very very short, that I wish the authors had taken more time to explore.
