What a story. This screenplay is based on the real life of artist Margaret Keane. Her husband, Walter, passed off her work as his own and kept her virtually locked in a room producing paintings that he sold. And those paintings were a phenomenal success. Margaret, though, longs for recognition; even more, she longs for the closeness she once had with her daughter from a previous marriage, Jane. As Walter becomes more demanding, even threatening to have Margaret "knocked off" if she tells anyone the truth about the paintings, Margaret is forced to lie repeatedly to Jane. The story ends in an epic court battle, but I won't spoil anything here.

Because this is a screenplay, I find it hard to comment on the writing. But it is such an interesting story that it carried me along. ( )
