I thought this was a very good short story. The plot, suspense and action were all there. I was a bit disappointed at the ending which I found to be somewhat vague and wish the outcome was different. ( )

This is the second bookshot format novella for the Michael Bennett series, whilst in some series the novellas flesh out characters or circumstances not covered within the main books these are more of an action filler between the main books being published.

Once again Manhunt doesn't disappoint, Bennett takes his family along on their thanksgiving day parade outing only to find themselves front and centre in the middle of a terrorist attack - a vehicle plows into the crowd and moments later explodes. Bennett is quick to give chase and finds himself being defeated by someone with unexpectedly good hand to hand combat skills.

Assigned to the FBI task force, Bennett then exercises his New York contacts and newly allocated partner from the Russian consulate to find the terrorist. Everything is not as straight cut as it initially appears however.

It was action packed and quick to get going although the ending was a bit average compared to what came beforehand. ( )

This Michael Bennett story is a BookShot, meaning it is a quick read. Michael and his family attend the Thanksgiving Day parade when a supposed terrorist drives a truck into the crowd, narrowly missing Mike and his family. Then, Michael chases the terrorist, but he escapes. Mike is assigned to work on the task force with the FBI and a Russian source.
This is a timely story, considering the terrorist attacks around the world. This one has a twist, though.
I liked this book because it was fast-paced, while still having a good amount of action.

The Bennett clan embarks for their traditional viewing of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, settling in at their usual spot across from Rockefeller Plaza at 49th Street and Sixth Avenue. The parade’s just beginning; the Snoopy balloon’s passing by when a truck bypasses the barricade, mowing down parade participants and spectators. Then it explodes.

Who’s behind the attack? Michael Bennett is determined to find the answer for the “holiday terror” that struck right in front of his family and made it personal for him.

This BookShots story follows the tale told in “The Haunted” but stands on its own perfectly well. Most of the characters are well-defined from previous Michael Bennett tales; readers unfamiliar with the series, however, will find the characterization sparse. But BookShots are not about characterization; they’re about pulse-pounding, fast-paced action. Readers will find the timely plot pulls them into the adventure and keeps the suspense building until the final unexpected reveal.
