a 12th Century murder mystery. The Lord Biship of Winchester's clerk is found bludgeoned to death in Pershore Abbey and almost everyone there had a reason to want him dead. The Sheriff of Worchester appoints Hugh Bradecote as his new acting under-sheriff and with the help fo Serjeant Catchpoll they investigate the murder.
Basically a medieval police procedural. Interesting and while occasionally could have been polished a bit was a very good read. (
