It combines styles (west coast indigenous art and silhouette) seamlessly and with its gentle, natural verse the whole experience is perfect. I bought it for my daughter's toddler and now I rather want to keep it. Reading it is like a short and peaceful trip to the Pacific Rim of Vancouver Island, or Haida Gwaii, or anyplace wild and quiet, out on that edge of the continent. If you're an actual toddler, the embossed and glossy details on many (most) of the pictures will be appreciated. I don't know if the embossing is sufficient to make the book somewhat accessible to visually impaired children-- it seems more of a decorative effect than a planned feature--, but it's worth checking into.
