A single mom gets a tasty bite of undead romance in the second novel in the Broken Heart series. Ever since a master vampire became possessed and bit a bunch of parents, the town of Broken Heart, Oklahoma, has catered to those of us who don't rise until sunset--even if that means PTA meetings at midnight.   As for me, Eva LeRoy, town librarian and single mother to a teenage daughter, I'm pretty much used to being "vampified." You can't beat the great side effects: no crow's-feet or cellulite! But books still make my undead heart beat--and, strangely enough, so does Lorćan the Loner. My mama always told me everyone deserves a second chance.  Still, it's one thing to deal with the usual undead hassles: rival vamps, rambunctious kids adjusting to night school, and my daughter's new boyfriend, who's a vampire hunter, for heaven's sake. It's quite another to fall for the vampire who killed you...… (more)

This was a very fun read. I loved the main character's sense of humor. I hope this is a long runing series because the first two have been laugh out loud funny! ( )

Hmm, I actually moved on to book 2. At least this book only had 2 love scenes in it and they weren't doing it every other page. There was more room in this novel for a plot.

I'm getting used to this weird world of Broken Heart, OK, filled with vampires and lycans. This book was told from the perspective of the town librarian. She has a teenage daughter who finds a vampire hunter boyfriend (!) and she is in love with a terribly handsome, ancient, brooding vampire.

Yeh, I'm not sure of the attraction to these domineering, possessive men. Doesn't do a thing for me but sure turns Eva on.

I do own book 3 so I will be moving on! ( )

Evangeline is a young single mother who gave up much to raise her teenage daughter. She is an uneducated woman by institutional standards, but as a self taught learner she is a brilliant woman. When she is killed and turned into a vampire her life makes an abrupt turn. She gain some kind of Dr. Dolittle ability and can talk tot he animals. * Yes, there are many jokes there.
Lorcan, the tortured soul vampire, tainted and crazed commits sins he can't forgive himself for. He carries his guilt, never allowing happiness to interfere with it. He may just the ultimate key for the survival of his people when his taint is cured. He feels guilt, and maybe something more for Eve, at the least he owes her protection.
There is danger, action, fighting, budding love, adventure, lame jokes, furry fun, nibbled necks, ancient wisdom, and just pure enjoyment between this cover. This series is like a cold drink of water on a hot day.* Vampire Light* Fun quick and sexy. ( )

What I Loved: I laughed, I cried, and I started wondering if all the hot Gaelic speaking men lived in some little town in Oklahoma. I really loved Lorcan and Eva, they were my kind of couple. They both had self-esteem issues, responsibilities, and were strong yet vulnerable on their own. Other than being vampires, they were both very real characters.

What I Liked: I love that Michele has created this world where she can push the boundaries. It seems like a very real town and all these parents are dealing with very real issues: how to do right by their kids, how to set up a working schedule, and how to blend their new lives in to have the least impact on those they love. The fact that they are vampire parents now have just added to those single parent responsibilities. It is very fun to read.

Any complaints? I actually have one but it is more about the teaser that was in the last book. You kind of find out that it was misleading and really not even in the book at all. I am a teaser fan so that irked me a little.

Why I gave it a 4: Lorcan is almost my perfect kind of anti-hero: he is well read, smart, kind, giving, protective, and if he was just a shifter/were instead of a vampire he would be perfect :) I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end! It did what I was hoping-transported me out of this world and to Broken Heart Oklahoma where I could escape for a few hours. Also I loved the fairytale that was woven through the story.

Who I would recommend it too: PNR lovers who like fun lighter reads and chick-lit readers who can handle a little paranormal. ( )
