Jasper the rabbit returns in this follow-up to Creepy Carrots, this time confronting some scary underwear. Determined to prove that he's not a little rabbit anymore, our leporine hero tries at first to pretend that his green glow-in-the-dark underpants don't scare him. But when he finally gives in to his fear, and attempts to get rid of them, Jasper discovers that it isn't going to be so easy - a surprise that only increases his fear. Can he succeed in freeing himself from his creepy underwear, or will he have to learn to live with them...?
Like its predecessor, Creepy Pair of Underwear features a hilarious tale from author Aaron Reynolds and colorful, attention-grabbing illustrations from artist Peter Brown. I chuckled as I paged show more through this one, and think it was every bit as entertaining as the original! There isn't really a dastardly plot here, as there was in the original, but I enjoyed following Jasper through his many frantic attempts at ridding himself of his underwear, and appreciated the conclusion, in which he learns to accept these unusual undergarments, even finding a use for them! Recommended to anyone looking for fun, oddball picture-books that blend the frightening and the funny. show less

Jasper is a big rabbit now and can make his own decisions. When he and his mom go shopping for big rabbit underwear, she choose some plain white ones for him, but he also wants a pair of "creepy underwear" designed to look like Frankenstein. But when he wears his underwear to bed that night, the green glow-in-the-dark light it emits freaks him out. Jasper tries desperately to get rid of the underwear, but it just keep re-appearing...
This is a humorous book with a serious message hidden underneath. Kids can see how sometimes jumping into a new milestone can be a bit scary, but it all works out in the end. The black-and-white illustrations peppered with the "ghoulish" green make for an appealing aesthetic that fits the story very well.

Fantastic follow-up to Creepy Carrots with a hilariously persistent pair of glowy, creepy underwear. I must give Reynolds a shout-out for the line: "Jasper grabbed his mom's good sewing scissors. She didn't like him using them, but this was an underwear emergency." Sewing scissor anxiety is real!
I really liked this picture book because it teaches children to face their fears. In the creepy pair of underwear, a little rabbit decides he wants grown up underwear, but the green grow from them scares him. He does everything he can do to get rid of the underwear, but they Come back. In the end he decides that he will embrace the underwear. I think this book would be wonderful for little kids to learn to face their fears in a fun and safe way.
I'm not a fan of underwear humor so I only read this book after my 4 year old begged me to at the library. I was pleasantly surprised. It's a scary entertaining story just right for little kids and interesting for the adult reader. I found the illustrations striking. The neon green against the gray tones of everything else really makes it look like a creepy glow.
The author did a great job being animated and using her voice to capture attention.I think this book would only really be amusing for a younger audience. It would be a nice fun book to read as a break. An important lesson that could be learned by younger audiences is that it's okay if they aren't ready to take the next step in being a big boy or big girl. Also that even though something doesn't work for one idea, they can be used for another. Even though Jasper wasn't comfortable wearing his underwear he was okay with them being a night light. My favorite thing about this book is the illustrations. When you think of creepy you think of dark and this book is black and white except for the green, glowy, creepy underwear.
I really enjoyed this book and found it hilariously cute! It takes you through the journey of a bunny who is becoming a "big kid" and becomes this by having creepy underwear. Once he gets home however, he finds out that the underwear glows and he becomes scared. He tries things to get rid of the underwear such as sending it to China and even cutting it up! Even though he takes drastic measures, the underwear still finds a way to come back. I anticipate that kids would laugh at all the funny things that go on with the underwear and could relate to the way the bunny feels about wanting to grow up, but being scared about some of the aspects of it. This would be great to read as a read aloud to students for Halloween could creat fun show more activities to go with it! show less
