Cute quick story about a little sister wanting to gain her big sister's attention. Lizzie is Jane's younger sister - sometimes Jane will read or play with her. But recently she has had a lot of other plans. Her calendar is completely full with soccer games, karate, ballet lessons, homework, and hanging out with friends. Lizzie sees that there is one day free on her calendar and she makes sure to circle it so she can spend some time with Jane. All week long she draws pictures, makes decorations and helps their mom make Jane's favorite treats. When the day comes to enjoy Sister Day -Lizzie is surprised to find a a gift for the two of them that Jane had been working on. She'd made two matching Sisters shirts for them to wear while they play, read, and hang out. Jane is also surprised by everything Lizzie did for her.

A super cute book about family, sisters, and spending time with one another. The illustrations are cute - but pretty standard for children's books.

In this adorable book, we follow a little sister who tries her hardest to play with her older sister everyday. Unfortunately, her sister is too busy to play because she has things to do (ballet, piano lessons, soccer, etc.) Finally they choose a day to have a "sister day" which they decide would be on Saturday. After a lot of patience, and planning, the little sister gets her wish of spending all day with her older sister. I really enjoyed this book's message, as well as the illustrations. Though I don't have an older sister, I do have an older brother, and I would always get so sad when he couldn't play with me. I didn't understand that he was busy, just like the little sister in the book. I love how healthy the sister's relationship was, and this can be a good modeling book for sisters who may not be getting along. Teaching young readers that sometimes they have to be patient in order to get what they want is also a great lesson to be learned. ( )
