Every Jamie Quinn book continues the tradition started at the very beginning with book one, Death by Didgeridoo. These stories are fun but with good solid mysteries, a lot of suspense and clues to follow, and characters that are well-developed, quirky and interesting. I have enjoyed getting to know these characters more with each appearance. I am sure you will love Kip and Aunt Peg and Adam and Jamie’s father and his wife and Duke and Jessie and the dogs and Grace and maybe even Nick as much as I do. Jamie is wry, self-deprecating, unintentionally humorous, and 100% lovable. Family, friends and boyfriend,-soon-to-be-fiancé Kim play major roles throughout and her dedication to them and to justice is evident. But Jamie sure does manage to get herself into some interesting situations. She’s a worrier but a doer and doesn’t sit by and wait for things to happen. A little frustrating for those who care about her, but so much fun for us.

Each story is fast-paced but full of depth and detail and addressing contemporary issues, albeit with a laugh out loud approach at times. In Jeopardy in July Jamie is hanging out with the old folks. Old people are dying too fast even for old people at a fancy assisted living facility in Boca Raton, Florida. Leave it to Jamie to end up right in the middle of a crime from forty years ago, once again uncovering clues and suspicious activity and putting herself in serious danger. Just when she was starting to think about a career change. First – solve this crime and stay alive while doing it!

Jamie Quinn is one of those characters that you love from the start, set your purchase preferences to auto-buy and sit back and escape into well-plotted, well-developed suspense and hilarity. It will be a different case or mystery or murder but your favorite characters will all be there in your favorite setting doing your favorite things. Jamie always makes me smile and laugh but the danger feels real, as does Jamie’s dedication to the truth. I have loved that girl from the start and her story can go on and on and on and I will eagerly await and devour each installment. I am living life with her.

I was thrilled with the ending of Jeopardy in July – and I was saddened because it might be the end of the series as originally planned. I fell in love with Jamie Quinn right off the bat, when I read the first book and every subsequent book has been better than the last, if that is even possible. Jamie has gone from a young woman in despair grieving the loss of her mother to communicating with the father she never knew, reconnecting with Kip, being there for her friends, investigating, loving the law but maybe not all that much, and hanging out with really crazy, scary characters.

As noted this might be the end of the series as originally planned, but if we campaign loudly enough perhaps we can convince the supremely talented author Barbara Venkataraman to keep writing about Jamie forever. If she will promise to do that I promise to buy the books forever. I received a copy of Jeopardy in July from the author but I was not required to provide a review. All opinions are my own. I can’t recommend this book and series highly enough. ( )

La Vida Boca, a posh assisted living facility; top of the line care, staff and reputation. If this is so, why are so many people dying? Must be due to aging and what happens as people age?

Jamie Quinn doesn't think so and once more finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation. P.I. Duke Broussard and a new friend, Jessie Sandler, are with her as she investigates what is going on.

Jamie has access to La Vida Boca as she is asked to hold monthly seminars on legal problems and answer any questions residents may have. It turns out to be a strange gig as it seems people show up for the refreshments and really don't have or care about legal questions.

While she is trying to get answers to who and why, she is also dealing with Kip still being in the Outback saving Wombats and her father's visa stuck in limbo. Will she ever get to finally meet her father or have Kip back by her side?

As in previous books, there are crazy, laugh out loud events, close calls and a fast pace. Also there are return appearances by characters from previous books, which keeps a nice visit with old friends. Definitely a fun series to read! ( )

Thinking about the character of Jamie Quinn, I am reminded of how I felt at the beginning of reading "The Alphabet Series" by Sue Grafton and meeting the character of Kinsey Millhone. I couldn't wait to discover what adventures author Sue Grafton had in store for Kinsey. I knew that I would be "front and center" in excitement at the prospect of reading another title in the series but with secret wondering if I'd be disappointed as the series continued. How could the author possibly keep my interest alive and not become repetitious or perhaps dull especially as with each addition to the series, I loved each story and development of the main character even more than the last novel in the series.

Discovery of the Jamie Quinn Mystery Series by Barbara Venkataraman is truly such a treasure chest. The novels may be read independently and not in series order but for this particular series, I would recommend reading the novels in series order. Jamie Quinn, family law attorney, shares an office in Hollywood, Florida, with Nelda, who specializes in worker's compensation cases. Jamie lives with Mr. Paws, feline extraordinaire who reminds Jamie daily of the endearing characteristics that charm all cat lovers with the true meaning of the well-known saying, "Dogs have owners and cats have staff." There are also a host of supporting characters from bff and fellow attorney Grace, Marmaduke (Duke) Broussard, the Third, a former client who becomes a friend and private investigator, boyfriend Kip Simons, Aunt Peg, and father, Guillermo Franco, to name just a few.

With each new client that Jamie assists she's wondering if she really wants to be a family law attorney for the remainder of her career - particularly dealing with the mediation of divorce cases. As Jamie begins to consider her career options, a puzzle presents itself at the ALF - a 5-star assisted living facility, La Vida Boca, in Boca Raton, Florida.

This is a delightful read on so many levels! I can't wait to discover how this series will progress from this story's conclusion but there are no longer any secret wonders. I'm totally convinced the next pause until publication of the next Jamie Quinn Mystery will be worth the wait. ( )

Jamie tends to jump from the frying pan into the proverbial fire no matter how good her intentions. This time, she’s on her way to an assisted living center to meet with an elderly couple who want a friendly divorce. The only problem is the husband of the couple ends up dead before the meeting takes place. One thing leads to another and once again Jamie is right in the thick of the action. Love interest, Kip, is still off saving various species in parts unknown and Jamie is wondering if this is a relationship or merely wishful thinking on her part. Venkarataman knows how to weave a good mystery (or perhaps more than one?) - certainly enough to keep readers on the edge of their seats waiting for the next shoe to fall. A great read with more of our author’s quirky humor included. I’m definitely recommending this one and can’t wait to see what Jamie is up to next. ( )
