These poems are calming, uncomplicated poetry: simple in form and content. They're meditative, positive, optimistic, naturalistic, and they flow well. They're not flowery. Both the language and the imagery featured are very simple. They could almost all be used to caption a photo from a nature hike or a wedding.

Some are overly vague and come across as pseudointellectual, as in the complete poem quoted here:

the small things make up everything there is

But some do strike me as profound, and worth remembering, like:

lines in the sand
are meant to be periodically
washed away

Book description
A big collection of tiny meditations.
Small Stones from the River is mindful poetry and prose that explores the inner and outer world, with revelations small enough to put in your pocket. The book gathers nearly 200 clear and elegant entries, which are artfully arranged without the disruption of chapter breaks, pagination, or punctuation to reinforce the meditative calm of the words. Beautiful in an instant, with a deeper meaning that gently unfolds with each reading. A small stone meets you where you are.

Love and Unity.
Healing and Happiness.
Nature and Beauty.
Forgiveness and Resilience.

A stone is a chip from a mountain, a story smoothed by rivers. A stone is a possibility preparing for your hand. It just took time for both of you to get here. So pick it up. It’s your small stone.

Small Stones from the River is a companion book for meditation, journaling, or quiet reflection. Space is provided on each page to promote mindful reading or to provide space for journal writing or drawing.
