In Siddhartha’s Brain, science journalist James Kingsland embarks on an ambitious journey: to trace the roots of mindfulness and meditation practices back to the Buddha himself, while weaving in modern neuroscience to explain their enduring power. The result is a thoughtful, well-researched, and accessible book that connects ancient wisdom with contemporary science.

Kingsland draws from both the life of Siddhartha Gautama—the man who became the Buddha—and from the latest discoveries in brain science. Through this dual lens, he explores how mindfulness, meditation, and other contemplative practices show more can rewire the brain, reduce stress, and foster well-being. A fascinating book where the author takes what Siddhartha, the Buddha, did and said involving the state of the mind and how it changes when engaging in meditation and focus, and compares it to what modern fMRI brain scans have shown what happens to the brain through meditation and focus. So far, everything the Buddha described has been more-or-less verified by modern science. Brain/mind training truly does improve your overall health. If you're at all interested in the benefits of meditation, read this book.
Interesting both from the scientific pov but also from a lot of historical data about Siddhartha and the world that he came from. It got me meditating again, so that has to be a bonus.
