Mystery. Romance. Young Adult Fiction. Young Adult Literature. HTML:From the New York Times bestselling author of All the Missing Girls and The Perfect Stranger comes a suspenseful psychological mystery about one girl's search to uncover the truth behind her ex-boyfriend's death. Perfect for fans of We Were Liars and 13 Reasons Why.

Jessa Whitworth knew she didn't belong in her ex-boyfriend Caleb's room. But she couldn't deny that she was everywhere—in his photos, his neatly folded T-shirts, even the butterfly necklace in his jeans pocket . . . the one she gave him for safe keeping on that day.

His mother asked her to pack up his things—even though she blames Jessa for his accident. How could she say no? And maybe, just maybe, it will help her work through the guilt she feels about their final moments together.

But as Jessa begins to box up the pieces of Caleb's life, they trigger memories that make Jessa realize their past relationship may not be exactly as she remembered. And she starts to question whether she really knew Caleb at all.

Each fragment of his life reveals a new clue that propels Jessa to search for the truth about Caleb's accident. What really happened on the storm-swept bridge?

This book started as one thing and then morphed into something completely different-- but in an organic way that made me not even realize it was happening. A effort from one of my fave authors!!

Jessa is going through Caleb's room remembering the whirlwind year of their relationship. She's also looking for something, anything that can tell her why Caleb was out driving around during the flood that ultimately killed him. His room is full of pretty much what she expected-- pictures and things that bring back memories of when they were an "us"-- but as she gets deeper into it, she starts finding things that get her mind turning. Each piece isn't enough to go in a particular direction, but as she follows her instincts, she starts down a shocking path to the truth.

I read this book in a day because I COULD NOT STOP. It might low-key slide into the discussion of what my favorite book of the year was. And that's because of how this book blossomed as it went on.

At first I was like-- hmmm, is this book going to be about going through her dead boyfriend's room and reminiscing about their relationship?? Because, yeah, that doesn't sound like a super interesting book. But HOLY SHIT!!! This book was NOT about that!!!

This book was about finding out what happened to Caleb. Finding out why his mom is acting like an aggressive hyena. Finding out about friendship and loyalty. Finding out secrets.

The progression this book took from the sad "my boyfriend died and I miss our relationship" book to intense "we have to figure out what the heck happened because !!!!!" was so well-done and surprising. I didn't even realize it was happening until I was in the thick of it.

My fave character: Max!! Max is the Sam of this book. He's the Kent([b:Before I Fall|6482837|Before I Fall|Lauren Oliver|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1361044695s/6482837.jpg|6674135]), the Josh ([b:Bittersweet|12478533|Bittersweet|Sarah Ockler|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1319941064s/12478533.jpg|17462973]), the Wes ([b:The Truth About Forever|51737|The Truth About Forever|Sarah Dessen|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1362767907s/51737.jpg|1032900]). He's what took this book from an intense mystery that I wanted to figure out, to an all-out feeling fest in my heart.

For the record, Jessa was a strong main character. She was an average, everyday girl that I think a lot of people will relate to. At first I didn't get why she would let Caleb's mom treat her like crap-- and I started thinking she was kind of a wet-blanket. I was worried that I wouldn't warm up to her, but I was completely wrong. It becomes obvious why she was willing to take the foul moods of Eve, and it has nothing to do with a personality flaw. Once I really figured out who Jessa was, I respected the hell out of her ability to be logical in a time where my emotions would have ruled the day.

OVERALL: A book from one of my favorite authors!! This book started as a coming to terms with feelings book and morphed into a thrilling mystery in a completely effortless way. I 100% recommend this to mystery/thriller lovers who are looking for a book with lots of substance.

I checked this out and then I remembered that the last book I read by Miranda was really boring but this sounded interesting so I read it anyway.

Now this one, this was just weird. Was it supposed to be a thriller or was it supposed to be an observation of a teenage relationship? I'm not really sure. ( )

Each chapter focuses on one object that inspires a memory of a girl's dead boyfriend. The first half was slow and I found the back and forth between the past and present very choppy. I found the book to be predictable (not a good thing for a mystery). The story was also very over-dramatic to the point of unrealistic. Felt like too many problems and tiny mysteries for one book. Not as good as "All the Missing Girls". ( )

Okay okay!! I don't know why I liked this book so much, the mystery was predictable, but there was just something about the words that kept me hooked to it, the story of her, I just couldn't put it down, at first I was like, how will she figure out from just the fragments left behind, but mahhh megan miranda did a damn good job unfolding the mystery.

So the story is basically about a girl named Jessa, whose ex boyfriend (Caleb) died in a car accident, or may I say, drifted off in a flood, and his mother asks this girl to clean out his room, since no mother should have to do that, besides the mother says "the room is full of you, Jessa". And so the story begins, her relationship with her friends and family is mostly shown in flashbacks, and I must say, I really really loved those parts.

So this is it for the non spoilery section. After this imma rant about this book. So bye bye. Continue on your own responsibility 😉

So in the starting I was like aww she has such a charming boyfriend, when that beach scene occurred but there was something about max I couldn't put a finger on, it could've been because she said she never really got along with him and I had that enemies to lovers kinda vibe, but I just liked him from then on, and honestly I was kinda scared to ship him with her cuz duh this is a mystery and anyone could be a bad guy, but he was such a caring guy, goddddd my heart goes out to him.

Talking about the mystery, I'd say, I kinda had a feeling Caleb is alive and to be honest his mother gave me fishy vibes, like idk something was off putting about that woman, turns out i was right all along.

I did like the idea of her brother and hailey together, she was such a good friend, and Julian is just PERFECT.

And oh godddd the ending scene was so precious, omggg that Saturn message and Max's reply, I just didn't wanted it to end 😥, I loved their dynamic that much. ( )
