Let me start by saying that I'm older than the intended audience by their age over again. But, in spite of a few cringing moments that mostly have to do with what this volume says about the state of things out there for women these days, I would recommend this volume to a young woman who is looking for some support in navigating the waters of young adulthood. Overall, I found the messages to be empowering, even when I disagreed with bits here and there.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thanks!
Hilarious, and relatable, even if you don't fall into the specific categories and generalizations she makes.

Shlesinger has astute observations about women, men, and the world in general, but she doesn't assert that she knows it all, she's just making her way through, and sharing some of her experiences with us.

I really appreciate the pitfalls she shares, and the understanding she eventually gets to, and the observations that helped her find her way.
GIRL LOGIC BY Iliza Shlesinger attempts to explain the unexplainable, how a woman's mind works. Shlesinger's standup has always made me laugh so diving into a book she wrote interested me but I had now idea what I was getting into. The book is quite funny at times, full of Shlesinger's quick wit and random outbursts of emotion, but it's also Shlesinger's study of how a woman (especially her) applies some many different thoughts to each decision in her life and how that same woman manages to not have a neurotic breakdown several times a day.
When discussing how an entire gender thinks, it's easy to fall into the trap of stereotyping everything and then chalking up to "they are all a little crazy". Shlesinger however, while admitting that show more inside things might be an anarchy of emotions and thoughts, does an admirable job of explaining that this same internal anarchy helps to provide clarity and focus in women's lives. Shlesinger spends a lot of time walking through the pitfalls and false promises that come with social media connections and relationship texting, while still acknowledging and embracing that social media is a viable part of our culture and being a celebrity, perhaps more so for her than most.
Very entertaining and laugh out loud funny at times, GIRL LOGIC is unique in its ability to captivate and educate at the same time. Being married adult man, there are certain aspects of the book that I couldn't relate to, but in the end I enjoyed reading the book and will try to catch Schlesinger's standup the next time she comes through my area.
Thank you to Hachette Boks, Iliza Shlesinger, and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

I got the audiobook, which I most prefer when it’s a comedian’s book.
Yes, there’s much in dating, which I thought funny, but it’s not just a dating book. If you make it past that section, it’s also about being a woman with a career and ambition and just about life as a girl. I saw some reviews and her experiences are not going to be everyone’s take on womanhood, but I found it funny, interesting and at times empowering.
Do you over-analyze every choice you make? Then you might be using girl logic! Written by stand-up comedian Iliza Shlesinger, Girl Logic is all about the characteristically female way of thinking that may seem contradictory and circuitous but is actually a complicated, highly evolved way of looking at the world. This book will help you turn girl logic into your secret weapon.

I started listening to this book on Audible way back in 2021, but for some reason I never finished it ... which is a shame, because I really enjoyed it! It's funny and relatable, and I loved listening to Iliza read it. If you're a woman, you'll definitely find yourself nodding along as she discusses the mental gymnastics women go through when attempting to make show more themselves (and everyone else around them) happy. show less
Part memoir, part comedy act, and part self-help book, Girl Logic didn't really break any new ground. Apparently women tend to overthink things? Shocker. There were some mildly humorous moments, and I didn't hate it, but I can barely recall much about it, and I finished it only a few days ago...

A mix between a humor book and a memoir, Iliza Shlesinger explores how the seemingly irrational parts of her brain have effected her life in mostly positive ways. Fun and light.
