This quirky little collection of stories is entertaining and occasionally unexpectedly emotional, and every once in a while, groan-inducing (of the "response to a dad joke" variety). It would be hard to pin down a theme, and those who know Weir for his sci-fi will appreciate stories like the titular "The Egg," "Bored World" and perhaps "anti-Anthoxiant." I won't call out too many of the others because several rely on the somewhat-clichéd-but-you-will-still-smile PLOT TWIST! endings. But the humor in Project Hail Mary is here, and if you've got an hour of laundry to do and a bathroom to clean, this is a great listen to make the time less dreary.
If you stumble upon this little collection, you must get to The Egg, the tittle story, to make it really worthwhile. The Egg is a creationist fantasy that is conceptually novel yet beautiful in its simplicity. Some of the other stories do have unexpected twists but lack the punch delivered by The Egg.
It's a nice collection of very short stories. All of them have a twist at the end. There are multiple kinds of twists: cool concepts, sweet moments, homages, jokes or really bland ones. It's enjoyable and worth reading - or listening - but you will only remember a couple of them. Maybe.
"Access" - cool concept, insufficiently explored
"Antihypoxiant" - classic story/concept, now backed by science; funny
"Annie's Day" - like most lengthy jokes, the pun isn't worth the wait
"The Real Deal" - old idea, has a nice feeling to it
"Bored World" - homage to something I didn't experience yet
"The Midtown Butcher" - something didn't really work; it's that kind of idea that doesn't work on paper
"Meeting Sarah" - already forgotten about it; had to look show more it up
"The Chef" - story was done before; meh
"The Egg" - nice concept; Kurzgesagt made a video for it show less

These were very well narrated and very well executed. One story was a little predictable but most of them were pretty good at the suspense and surprise factor. I will definitely be checking out more of Andy Weir’s books!
“The Chef” had me really shook.

This is a varied collection of short stories from Andy Weir. They range from hard sf to much softer and fuzzier fantastic fiction. Not all of the narrators are reliable; one narrator isn't who we think they are. Some of these stories work much better for me than others, but overall this is an enjoyable and satisfying collection.
It's an enjoyable way to spend an hour or so of your time.
I bought this audiobook.

Super easy, quick read, but very dynamic stories. There were some gotchas and some real thinkers.
Highly recommend.

The Egg and Other Stories
by Andy Weir
Oh my gosh! This book was so fantastic! It has a bunch of short twisty stories that grab you right away but twist your head around at the end! I laughed at the ending of a few the re-reading listened to them! ( After I had the complete story!) What a hoot!
My favorites are "Access" about a girl with a special power. Then "Annie's Day" which is simply a day in the life of Annie! Hahaha!
Narration was flawless!
