These summaries are divided into English Novels, American Novels, French Novels, Russian Novels and Other Novels from Various Countries. The book has several aims in being published. The first is to recreate the thrill of having first read a great novel. The second is to introduce a book which may not have been originally looked for. The third is seeing of such a wide variety of masterpieces of fiction. Lastly, the pleasure of recalling the details of old standbys. The book begins with Pride and Prejudice. The short outlines are literal to a fault but necessarily so given the space allotted to each fictional work.
