A freckled white child is excited for pizza day with their dad (as mom heads off to work with a slick suit, heels, and briefcase). Together, dad and kid harvest veggies and herbs from the garden, make dough and sauce (both of which need to take a "nap"), play with the dog, and clean up before mom's return and dinner. A great step-by-step description of making pizza, and a cozy family story with little conflict.

A companion to Soup Day, shows the making of a homemade (from scratch) pizza using vegetables and herbs they grew in their garden. Includes making the crust and sauce. Gender roles show Mom heading out to work in the morning and Dad staying home to play and make the pizza. (Though Mom makes a salad while the pizza is finishing up.) Great representation of cooking, playing, cleaning up from playing, and eating healthfully.
This is a book about how to make pizza. Ages 5-8. Source Pierce College Library.
