A great book demonstrating the power of friendship. About two boys who experience everything together, they are best friends.
This is a good example of realistic fiction because it portrays two boys who are friends and it talks about their hobbies and why they are best friends and what they know about each other. The audience can relate to the characters and their hobbies and actions are realistic. It also portray human interactions. This point of view is a first person narrative. The narrator talks about John, his best friend, and himself. He reveals information about John that he would know because they are best friends. He also reveals information about himself that he would know. He is not omniscient and it in no way appears that he is. It is very clear who is narrating and it helps the theme of the book in that it helps us to really see that they are best show more friends and it helps us learn about each character.
Media: The illustrations appear to be done with pen and ink and watercolor.

This is a good example of realistic fiction because the plot is one that could really take place. It is a story about 2 best friends and how they know everything about one another. While we the story isn’t long enough to see growth in the characters, they are still ones the reader can connect with. Children would be able to think of one of their best friends and how they know all kinds of things about them. Since the point of view is in the 1st person we get to connect directly to the narrator. We get to see how he feels about his friend John and what he likes about their adventures. This point of view is very appropriate and it makes the story more personal since we show more are seeing it from the view of one who is directly involved. show less
It tells of two little boys who trust and respect each other. They are different in their own ways but use their talents to help the other.
My Friend John is about two boys who are best friends. They talk about everything they know about each other like the secret hiding places in each others houses, secret fears, and times they have stuck together. This book can be used to teach kids about accepting their friends for who they are and about what it means to be a good friend.
