A great book about a girl who want to join in on the firefighting fun but keeps getting shunned when ask and begins to question how she can be part of the fun.

Rita watches two boys in her classroom play firefighters. Rita feels left out because she told the boys that she wants to play too, but got ignored. A classmate asks her want is wrong seeing Rita's sad face. She listens to Rita and leads her back to the boys, she asks if Rita can be a firefighter too. Rita chimes in , that she rather wants to be cat. The children smile at each other and start playing together.

I like how they had the character established her friendship with her new friend. They came together through a warm.
