Based on a Dirk Pitt novel by Clive Cussler. The movie starts with a Civil War Confederate iron side escaping to Africa with bounty of gold coins. When then move to modern day where the WHO is investigating an outbreak in Niger. The WHO doctor is ambushed by assassins and then saved by Dirk. Dirk gets a Confederate gold coin from an underworld broker, sending him up the Niger River looking for the iron side. The WHO doctors go with them. Mayhem ensues as those responsible for the outbreak try to stop them.
I enjoyed the movie. As is often the case, I'm glad I read the book before I watched the movie though.
