Description
The First Farrell Family Christmas Max, Leon and Matthew - together at last for Christmas at St Mary's - a time of conspicuous consumption, riotous misbehaviour and the traditional illegal Christmas jump. And this time, it's inter-generational. Donning her unfamiliar mother hat, Max takes Matthew back to 19th century London, where they plan to deliver a parcel of Christmas cheer to his former friends, but find themselves confronting the terrifying Old Ma Scrope in the process. 'Tis the show more season to be jolly. It's also the season of goodwill towards all mankind. Pity no one told Max. show lessTags

This is a lovely little story in which Max and and Matthew travel to the East End of London on Christmas Eve 1812 in order to share food and blankets with the two other climbing boys who Matthew left behind when he was rescued by Leon. It also shows Max in kick-ass mode take on the notorious Mrs Scrope – I kept thinking that I really wouldn't want to have Max as an enemy.
Short and delightful xmas story featuring our scariest mom yet. Max. Also, arguably the worst. Or best. Depends on your POV. :)
She takes her child to disease-ridden London to give food and blankets to Matthew's old friends in the muck.
Time-travel can be nice, sometimes, and no one got pissed on. This time.
The best part is the yelling. Go Max!
A very Scrooge-y story. :) And cute.

This was a sweet tale about friendship and kindness in the face of cruelty, timely for Christmas Eve. Historian Max and her son Matthew travel back to 1812 to bring some much-needed food and blankets to his 2 friends he left behind when he reunited with his mom in the present. Then we get to see how their acts changed history.

One of many short stories in Jodi Taylor’s Chronicles of St. Mary’s series. It’s a good story. Max and her estranged son, Matthew return to 19th century London to bring a bit of Christmas cheer to Matthews erstwhile companions.
I’m not ready to forgive Taylor for the previous book in the series, but this was feel good story that put a bandaid on the wounds.

This is a really nice short story about friendship and doing what you can to help even though you know you can't do everything. And it gives a good look into Max as a mother.
In this short Christmas story Max and Matthew start to approach a more usual mother/child relationship. There is the usual excellent reading by Zara Ramm.
What a fun (albeit too quick) read on Christmas Day.
