Farmer Falgu goes to market in this Indian picture-book exploration of making the best of a bad situation. Setting out with his eggs and his produce, he discovers that one mishap after another has destroyed his goods. Now how will he manage to sell anything? Using his creativity, that's how! Soon he is making delicious omelets with his crushed food-stuffs, thereby creating something to sell after all...

Apparently one of a number of stories featuring this resourceful character, Farmer Falgu Goes to the Market was published in Chennai, India, and pairs an engaging story by Indian expat author Chitra Soundar and appealing artwork by Indian illustrator Kanika Nair. I appreciated the message here about staying calm, even in the face of misfortune, and attempting to make something positive come out of disaster. Recommended to anyone looking for picture-books with an Indian cultural setting, as well as to those interested in engaging stories with a positive, "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade" attitude.
