Took a bit to get back into the story, but as it sped up and the intrigue grew, I was doubly glad I had ordered book three in time to open it as soon as the cover on this one was closed. It alternates between grim and empathetic and even though Tristan has his unlikable moments, his decency and insecurities, as the story moves along, make him a very relatable character. ( )

Between Frost and Fury is an enthralling YA science fiction novel that slowly binds you to the story.

Recalling my review in the first book, I said that everything is almost perfect for me. I even said that I’m looking to see more development in the world-building in the second book. Now, after reading Between Frost and Fury, I could say that the author never failed me. The second book was much better than the first book. The storyline evolved into something more exciting and interesting because of some twists that were added in it. I failed to notice it at first, but it finally makes sense to me after reading this novel.

The story continues from where it was left on. Even though I’ve read the first book around 2017, I still remember the story, and it still excites me to read this second book. Maybe, that’s how I am so invested in the story itself. And that’s how good the author is in engaging me in reading the story and be part of it.

What I like in this novel is that it never gives me a dull moment. Every scene was worth reading as all of it gives me an idea on the world I am in and the characters I was with. I also like the development of the characters. Each one of them turned into someone worthy of their role in the story, or maybe I was wrong? We don’t know yet if my instinct is right but, I love them, especially Delaney. She is starting to see beyond reasons, and she is weighing things now before taking action. The story mostly focuses on Delaney and Tristan as they have the most significant impact or vital role in the development of the story. But, it doesn’t mean that I wasn’t able to see the role of the other characters.

What I dislike in this novel? I don’t know. Maybe, it left me hanging and wanting for more. I need the last book to quench my thirst to the story. I finished reading this book in less than two days, and if it’s not time to sleep, I won’t stop reading this. That’s how engrossed I am in reading this novel.

So far, everything in this second book is astounding. I am recommending this book for those who were able to read the first book. If you also like anything about aliens, you might also want to check this book. And, if you are looking for YA science fiction or anything to read today, why not try this one? ( )
