First words
The German V-2 was the world's first ballistic missile used in combat. It was a technological marvel that pioneered many key innovations in missile technology. But as a weapon, it was a complete flop, costing Germany enormous... (show all) resources for very meager results.
Quotations
The cost of development and manufacture of the V-2 was staggering, estimated by a post-war US study as about $2 billion, or about the same amount as was spent on the Allied atomic bomb program.
Last words
(Click to show. Warning: May contain spoilers.)In November and December 1960 China conducted its first tests of the DF-1. Series production was on a very small scale as even the Chinese appreciated that it was an obsolete design. The Chinese DF-1 was the last ballistic missile design directly linked to te V-2.
