Society has been thrown into a new Dark Age where superstition holds sway. The Tuatha De Danaan roam the land once more, their terrible powers dwarfing anything mortals have to offer. And in their wake come all the creatures of myth and legend, no longer confined to the shadows. Fighting to find their place in this new world, the show more last remnants of the Christian Church call for a group of heroes: a new Knights Templar to guard the priesthood as they set out on their quest for souls. First novel in a fantasy trilogy set in a world in which magic, and the gods and spirts, have returned. This is a quest story combined with a love story, with Irish and Arthurian elements, a touch of horror, and a soupçon of multiculturalism (though leavened by having the young black man castrated; one wonders if the author has a thing about black penes).
Mallory finds his way to Sailsbury cathedral to join the knights templar, who have been reformed. However there are dark things going on and not everything as as simple as it seems. They have to fight the darkness with the help of magic users and other creatures of the worlds. Interesting and original this looks like yet another good series from Mark Chadburn.
