Queen of Fire is a coming of age story with magic and myth. An epic fantasy, the first book is centered on the journey of Rowan as she finds herself and her family.

It was a slower paced read with less excitement than I am used to in stories, but it had enough to keep me reading to the end. Although promised Dragons, the story fell short for me with only the bones of a Dragon early in and a magical tale of the Queen of Fire.

I hope the sequel has more Dragons. Regine Haensel offers a well written epic with a great deal to offer readers who enjoy YA or fantasy and are looking for a slower paced travel epic. Description is beautiful and the characters are unique and intriguing. ( )
