A beautifully written novella which could only be described as historical fantasy. Exotic locations and dazzling palaces in both Paris and Turkey, but the main love story is not as memorable as the subplot between Emperor Napoleon III's wife Eugenie de Montijo and the Turkish sultan. (I've always felt sorry for her, too bad she didn't fall in love with a sultan, he might have treated her better than Napoleon did).
Beautiful descriptions. A short, but very enjoyable read.
