"Thank you isn't just for learning manners. It's also for when something wakes a little hum - a happy little hum - insde you and you want to answer back." So begins author Mary Lyn Ray's simple narrative, which lists the many wonderful things in our lives for which we should say thanks. Seasonal fun, personal relationships, for things we can name and things we can't - there is so much for which to be grateful...
A sweet and simple picture-book pean to gratitude, The Thank You Book is, as the introductory sentence makes plain, not about saying thank you as part of etiquette (not that that isn't important, of course), but about having a spirit of thankfulness in our hearts, as we look around our beautiful world. As such, although it has no show more direct relationship to Thanksgiving, it is definitely a title that could be used to spark a discussion of gratitude at this holiday. The accompanying artwork by Stephanie Graegin is charming, capturing the beauty of each season being depicted. Recommended to anyone looking fop picture-books about thankfulness. show less

This thank you book is not about manners. It's a thank you book which focuses on gratitude for our everyday world and give examples that kids can relate to in their lives. Book doesn't mention Thanksgiving so could be used year around. Title does a good job promoting equality, diversity, kindness and gratitude.
The watercolor/pencil illustrations give a warm, cozy, and happy feelings to the text and correlate well with the story line.
