This was a rather condensed version of the history of North Carolina. It was interesting. I found Walter Edgar's History of South Carolina much more interesting and full of information. However, it was still a good book to read if you were not familiar with the beginnings of North Carolina. ( )

This is a fair book on the history of NC. It spends a great deal of time on the colonial period, while being quite sparse on more recent events. It is broad in scope. If you desire detail, this is not the book. A good intro to the subject that is well written. ( )
