The Internet pretty much runs on cute animal photos, but "cute" is so much more than clickbait kittens and insta-pups. Cute is for feathery-gilled axolotls (pronounced: ax-uh-LOT-ulz), shy pygmy hippos, poisonous blue dragons, and armored pangolins. The animals pictured in this live up to the title. A quick read with plenty of animal facts! ( )

I liked this book, Cute as an Axolotl, for a couple reasons. First, the book was very well organized for an informational book, outlining species names, size, habitat, predators/threats, fun facts, and layout. Also in the back of the book, there is a handy glossary of the bolded words throughout the book. The other reason is this lighthearted in informational book was so engaging that it opened my eyes to some new animals and made me want to read about them more. The big idea of this book is that there are cute animals around the world and they have reasons to be cute. ( )
