This was an amazing book. I really liked how the book was written in the dog’s perspective. It really made the book exciting and wonderful. I believe the author did this on purpose, because he knew that children would like it more if a dog was describing what dogs do throughout every month of the year. Even though some of the things the author talks about, a dog wouldn’t be able to do. It would provide an interesting classroom discussion for the students in the classroom. The author made quick and short poems in the perspective of a dog which provides the reader the opportunity to embellish on what the author was talking about. This would make a great writing prompt because the teacher has any month out of the year she could choose from that the students could write on. This is perfect for the purpose of a children’s book, because it allows children to really think about every month and what they’re like. ( )
