While not a Repairman Jack novel, this one is firmly part of the [[[Secret History of the World]]] series. A young woman propositions a couple of brothers in a bar for a fairly lurid night of sex. But during that sweaty affair, she suddenly leaps out of the hotel window to her death. Turns out she is a twin, and her twin comes to NYC to deal with the necessary arrangements. But she also begins investigating what happened to her sister and begins hypnosis and psychiatric treatment with her sister's doctor. And that's where the answers lay hidden to her sister's unusual behavior.
Wilson exhibits his ongoing development in writing strong and complicated female characters - it will eventually become a strength. While there is some rather show more graphic sex in the book, the females don't suffer from being the literary version of paper-thin sex partners. And the ultimate resolution of the murder smacks of supernatural patterns that likely will come back in later Jack novels - if not specifically, at least in shape. Quite a page turner.

A woman falls to her death from a 12th-floor window. Her twin sister tries to make sense of her behavior in recent months. Multiple personality disorder, or something more sinister?
A timeline in the back of a recent Repairman Jack book indicated that this ties in to the Repairman Jack/Adversary books, but the connection is not apparent.

Superb and chilling! Love Mr. Wilson's stand-alone novels just as much as his Repairman Jack series.
Did not finish reading. Too much like Stephen King!
