Lirmac Two books that recount a journey taken in youth from a mature perspective. Both link the world they find with its ancient past, and regale the reader with stories of local generosity to the traveller.

Thoroughly engaging account of a young crew's journey in a small boat through the Ionian and Aegean Sea. Penny Minney is a natural storyteller; her account of the journey, written over a century after the events, is as poetic as it is journalistic. Crab's Odyssey draws the reader into the Mediterranean world of the 1950s through the legacy of its ancient cultures, while simultaneously recounting the generosity of its contemporary citizens. Highly recommended, especially for anyone with an interest in sailing.
