As always Mary Burton delivers with a cracking breakneck speed thriller that demands to be devoured in one sitting!

If you are familiar with Mary Burton's work Cut and Run won't disappoint and if you aren't then this book will have you itching to get your hands on her previous books. From start to finish there is not one dull moment and enough revelations and plot twists to have you second guessing leaving traces of doubt as to who is masterminding the sickening crimes.

A brutal murder of a man who has been tortured, a hit and run that leaves a FBI agent in critical condition, a missing pregnant young girl, all seemingly connected somehow to medical examiner Faith McIntyre. And if that wasn't enough for her to deal with it becomes show more apparent that other historical cases are also connected. But how, why and who will take some seriously dark and twisted turns to make the pieces all fit together.

Faith is a brilliant`protagonist and alongside Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden their characters and relationship was great, but for me Kat, the troubled teen stole the show. With a chip on her shoulder, hormonal and a touch of a rebellious nature, there is just something about her that is endearing with glimpses of the bright young lady she will become.

The characters are all interesting and have you invested in each of them. I would love there to be a follow-up to this book so we could go back and see how they are all fairing up and what life has in store for them next.

I throughly enjoyed this book and it is definitely one i would recommend, don't be deterred by the romantic suspense category, romance certainly isn't the plots core. It is one for fans of Karen Rose and Karin Slaughter.

If you are a fan of mysteries and suspense books, then, you need to check out author, Mary Burton. This latest offering from Mary does serve up good characters, a nice storyline with a mix of action and intrigue.

I liked Faith. She was a good mixture of intelligent but personable as well. Thus in turn this made her relatable. A very important quality to have in a character. It makes reading a book much easier. There are several other characters featured in this book. They didn't play second string but equal parts to Faith.

Which, I am a fan of this author's and her books. I do have to admit that I struggled in the beginning to really find my footing wit this book. The first chapter or two were good but after that it seemed like there show more was a lot of time spent in the details of trying to piece everything together. Not that details are not important but too much time spent causes the story to get bogged down. The second half of the book is much better. It is where the most of the action happened. Plus, the story moved faster. There are a few twists along the way. show less

WOW! Another wonderful book by Mary Burton ~ One I absolutely could not put down!

Evil lurks here and there and everywhere…and…there are surprises around every corner…especially in this book!

This book…not sure what to say since I do not want to give the plot away so…

What I liked:
* Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden – quiet in some ways but definitely smart, smooth and just what the doctor ordered.
* Faith McIntyre – medical examiner and in a physical relationship with Hayden – adopted, a twin and waiting to unravel clues that will come her way
* Macy Crow – FBI agent, Faith’s twin, also adopted, hit by a truck when following clues. She is strong, smart and hopefully will get a book of her own in show more the future.
* Paige and Kat – pregnant teenagers who were feisty, strong and tenacious…definitely tough cookies and they needed to be in this story.
* The way the story was gold and how it unraveled a bit at a time.

What I didn’t like:
* The bad guys. I know I was supposed to dislike them but it was definitely easy to do so since they were BAD to the bone.
* The blindness to evil and wrongdoing shown by one character at the end of the book.

Did I like this book? Yes indeed!
Will I read more by this author? Without a doubt!

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) I had forgotten how much I do tend to enjoy Mary Burton's book. This book kept you on your toes from beginning to end. We have Faith McIntyre a medical examiner who is no pushover and she is truly dedicated to her job. Her new romantic interest Michael Hayden has just landed a case where there are a lot of questions and both want answers. We have lots of betrayal, lies, and eventually answers.. Grab a copy and enjoy because you will and you will be busy..

I liked this book. I found it to be a really well done romantic suspense novel. This is a stand-alone novel but I did find a connection to another one of her books, The Last Move, through the characters which I found interesting. I found this book to be easy to listen to for hours at a time as I worked to try to solve the mystery. I ended up have a great time with this story.

The action starts right away in this book with the discovery of the body of a man that has been tortured. This is just the start of a rather complicated and far-reaching chain of events. I really wasn't sure how everything would work out or how one thing was connected to the next but as the book progressed everything just seemed to fall into place. There are events show more from the past connected to other things that are happening in the present day which really added to the mystery.

I liked the characters quite a bit. Faith is the medical examiner tasked with working on the initial body. She was smart and dedicated to the job. She was also the kind of person that really worked to help others and got personally involved at times. Macy is Faith's equal in every way and they share a much deeper connection. I wish that Macy could have been a bigger part of the story but I did appreciate what she did add to the tale. Ranger Hayden was good at his job and worked really well with Faith. They made a great team and it was fun to see all the pieces come together.

I thought that Brittany Pressley did a great job with the story. This book had a rather large cast of characters and I thought she handled them all really well. She was able to add a lot of emotion to the story at times and was able to add some excitement to other scenes. This was my first time listening to Brittany Pressley's work but I was really impressed and hope to get the chance to listen to her narration again soon.

I would recommend this book to fans of romantic suspense. I liked that the mystery element to this story seemed to take the main stage with the romance adding a nice extra element. I plan to read more from Mary Burton in the future.

What a fantastic read, this book has a little bit of everything but a lot of surprises that will keep guessing until the end.
When Texas Ranger Mitchell Haydon receives a message from by an old acquaintance, Jack Crow who has been known to live on the fringes of the law his interest is peaked. Unfortunately for Mr. Crow, he's a little late getting out to the Salvage yard where Crow lives. When Ranger Haydon arrives, let's just say he's chasing off the buzzards who are also interested in Mr. Crow. It looks like ole Jack took whatever secrets that this killer wanted to the grave by the looks of his poor old tortured body and tossed trailer house.
Ranger Haydon calls in the reinforcements to see if they could come up with anything useful show more regarding who did this to the old man who was pretty much a hermit.
Medical Examiner Fatih McIntyre and her investigator arrive and take Mr. Crow away and look for the next of kin to identify the body. Mr. Crow had a son, Dirk who lived on the other side of the property who seemed to be missing and a daughter Macy who lived in Virginia. They did make contact with Macy, and she drops everything and catches the next flight to Austin.
Macy first stop is her dad's salvage yard; she's sure that the two initial searches might have missed something. She's right, her dad left her trail, but it was in the right direction. She's back at her hotel room when she sees a clip Faith McIntyre accepting an award regarding a children's home. She's completely dumbfounded by the image Faith; it was like her body double. She sends Faith a note plus a selfie and photo of her FBI identification.
She's following her trial to a bar called "Second Chances" when things go wrong. Macy is almost killed after she leaves that bar, Ranger Haydon can't believe what his eyes when approaches the body of Macy laying broken in the street. He's been working with Faith for a long time and knew she was an only child.
As I stated earlier this book has so many twists and turns, I'm finding it hard to write this review without spewing spoilers all over the place.
Ms. Burton has done it again, another perfect romantic suspense novel that will rival anyone else's out there.

4.5 Definitely! I enjoyed this one the most in the series so far. I loved Hayden and Faith together. I loved all the supporting characters too. A really good read.
