Out of winter comes spring ... out of bondage comes the sparrow's song. When fifteen-year-old Irma Dreipelcher faced the firing squad, she was prepared to die. For some reason she was miraculously spared. But instead of freedom, was given marching order - to the slave labor camps in Siberia. The rest of this dramatic true story is history interwoven with the emotional, physical, and spiritual trauma of life in suspension. What Irma experienced illustrated perfectly the depth to which depraved man will go and the extent to which God watches over his beloved children. Against the greatest of odds, Irma learned the true meaning of faith. Like the sparrow whose very life is dependent on the heavenly Father, this young woman found strength to face pain and deprivation. She emerged from the experience a stronger person, grateful that she had learned to sing the sparrow's song. - Back cover. Both Irma Stoll and Catharine Brandt are Minnesota authors.… (more)
